On Friday, after school, my family and I travelled a four hour drive down to Cornwall. We stayed in a hotel overnight, ready for Bout Against Cancer in the morning. While we were in the hotel, my Dad made me an amazing banner for the game.
When I arrived at the sports hall, I was so excited. There were four games in total, the juniors were the second game. At half time of the first game, my team and I started kiting up. When the first game finished, we skated around the track, getting used to the floor and warming up ready for our game.
Our game was made up of level 2 and level 3 jams. The first jam was level 2 and I was chosen to be the first jammer, I was able to get though the gaps and get lead jammer, scoring points for my team. I jammed lots of level 2 and one level 3. I was so happy to get lead on the level 3 jam as I find level 3 jamming more challenging.
During the game I found it really hard when I got past the wall and then a blocker chased me out and knocked me off the track, recycling me right to the back. (RacHell, I’m looking at you!)
This game was also special to my family, it was my sister’s first time sharing the track with me. Her derby name is Belle of the Brawl, she has been training alongside me but hasn’t played before. Whilst I was jamming, she was blocking the opposing jammer, giving me time to score points.
I really enjoyed the game, I love playing on a full size track, making gaps to nip through.
I was so happy when I was awarded Best Jammer.
My sister won best blocker.
It was a really good day!
